Debra A. Spadaro-Meguid, 64, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Rochester, she lived in the Syracuse area since 1955 and spent many winters at her home in Marco Island, FL. As a child, Debbie was an accomplished ballet dancer. She received her master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University and after more than 20 years, retired as the managing editor of Nutrition, an international medical journal. Debbie loved reading, traveling, the theater and spending time at the beach, but above all, loved spending time with her family and friends.
Debbie was predeceased by her father, Richard Brassie; and grandmother, Margaret Hartz.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Meguid; daughters, Cara and Michelle Spadaro; mother, Margaret Brassie; sisters, Cheryl (Don) Belfort and Robin Brassie; brothers, Richard Brassie and Gary (Christine) Brassie; first husband and friend, Ralph Spadaro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Debbie will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
