David William Jenks, 74, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at home. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, David attended West Genesee High School. At age 15, he began working with antique lighting, which became his passion and led to owning his own business, becoming a prominent antique lighting consultant around the nation. David co-founded Syracuse Antiques Exchange, enjoyed cooking, gardening, scuba diving and snorkeling. David was an independent spirit from the time of his youth and always had a great appreciation for the beauty and detail of all things.
David was predeceased by his parents, William and Frances and sister, Jean Benz.
Surviving are his partner of 45 years, Richard Jaeger; brother, Richard Jenks of Syracuse; sister, Kathleen Fleming of Fairmount and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow immediately after. He will be laid to rest at Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.
