David Stewart Olson

February 17, 1955 — September 24, 2016

David Stewart Olson, 61, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Seattle, WA, he grew up in Eugene, OR and lived in the Syracuse area for the past 30 years. He was employed with Syracuse University.

Dave was predeceased by his stepfather, Richard Geranian; and his father, Ronald Olson.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, the former Nancy Dollard; daughters, Sarah (Tyler Carr) and Anna, both of Syracuse; his mother, Cherie Geranian; brothers, Michael, Kirk, Steve Olson, and Richard Geranian Jr., all of Eugene, OR; sisters, Dee (Monte) McKeehen of Poulsbo, WA, and Sue (Bill) Driscoll of Bath, NH; brother-in-law, RJ Dollard; sisters-in-law, Katie (Fred) Weinheimer, Sue (Bob) Tschernjawski, Mary (Steve) Dougherty, all of Syracuse, and Anne Dollard of Palmer, AK; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

His lifelong career and passion was music. He was an accomplished drummer, touring worldwide. In recent years, Dave found great enjoyment performing locally and mentoring young musicians.

All are welcome to attend a funeral Mass which will be celebrated Thursday, September 29 at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. The family will receive guests following the Mass from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Parish Center.
