David "DJ" Werbeck

David “DJ” Werbeck, 59, of Cicero, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a 1977 graduate of West Genesee High School. DJ earned his associate degree from Cayuga Community College and was employed with Channel 9 News for over 30 years and Fox Broadcasting for over 10 years. DJ attended The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was a member of NABET-CWA Local 211 Union. He enjoyed playing drums for local bands and also played in the West Genesee Marching Band Drumline. DJ was a creative inventor and enjoyed spending time with family.

Surviving are his daughters, Jessica (Theodore) Brooks III of Liverpool and Teresa Werbeck of Austin, TX; parents, Arthur Sr. and Lillian; sister, Christine Werbeck of Camillus; brothers, Stephen (Nancy) of North Syracuse, James (Susan) of Bonita Springs, FL and Arthur Jr. (Maureen) of Gaithersburg, MD; granddaughter, Evelyn Brooks; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 1 at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay. David will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, DeWitt.
