David J. Jutton, 82, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at The Cottages at Garden Grove. Born in Solvay, he grew up on the west end of Syracuse. A graduate of St. Patrick's High School, he was ordained a priest for the Roman Catholic diocese of Syracuse in 1966. He served as chaplain at St. Luke’s Hospital and Notre Dame High School.
In 1968, David was transferred to Syracuse where he became chaplain for the Wilbur Ave. State School and Syracuse Police Department. He worked with the Northside Peace Organization. From 1971-1973, he was chaplain for Central Psychiatric Center. He also served in Truxton and DeRuyter parishes as well as Sacred Heart in Cicero.
A Navy veteran, David enjoyed skiing, golf and artwork, especially art in oil paints and carved out characters from woodcuts which he painted. Having written several poems, he authored the rascal poem titled “A Dwelling Place.” In retirement, he lived mainly in Camillus, which is just outside of heaven!
