David F. Smith

February 21, 1950 — October 23, 2015

David F. Smith, 65, of Camillus, passed away Friday October 23, 2015 at the VA Medical Center.  Born and raised in Rome, he lived in Syracuse for the past 10 years.  David was a Vietnam combat veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was employed as a truck driver for more than 30 years.  A member of the VFW Post 15033, he was an avid fisherman.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family. David was predeceased by his parents, Allan Smith and Doris Joslyn. Surviving are his son, Gary T. (Zena Alexander) Smith of Endicott; daughter, Karen (Bill) Smith-Davis of Seattle, WA; brothers, Ron (Kathi) Joslyn of Jamesville and Dan (Sandy) Joslyn of Baldwinsville; stepchildren, Mandy Soma of Titusville, FL, Joey Woodson of Camp Verde, AZ and John Woodson of Arizona; seven grandchildren; cousin, Mary Louise Calnan of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews, and best friend, Mary Hochmuth of Camillus. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31 at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Golisano Children´s Hospital, c/o University Hospital, 750 E. Adams St., Syracuse, NY 13210.
