Daniel W. O'Keefe Jr., 96, of Jamesville, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at The Nottingham. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived in Kendall Park, NJ for 30 years before moving to the Syracuse area in 2004. Daniel served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn and president of the Rotary Club in New Brunswick, NJ. Daniel was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in Kendall Park where he also volunteered as the sacristan and Eucharistic minister. Daniel retired in 1983 after 30 years with Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc. He enjoyed fishing and loved to dance.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Heritage and Nottingham RHCF for their loving care of Daniel.
Daniel was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, the former Evelyn Curry.
Surviving are his daughter, Dr. Donna M. (Carmen) Zeolla of Camillus; son, Major Daniel W. (Chris) O'Keefe of Centreville, VA; grandchildren, Carmen (Heather) Zeolla Jr. of Baldwinsville, Dr. Jennifer O'Keefe of Falls Church, VA and Adrienne Nicholson of Centreville, VA; great-grandchildren, Catherine, Mackenzie, Teresa, Stephanie, Carmen Francis III and Blake August.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, November 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St, Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 7 at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 E. Onondaga St., Syracuse. Daniel will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
