Daniel "DJ" Cook, 64, of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Auburn Community Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a veteran of the US Army. DJ was employed with the NY State Canals for 42 years retiring as a dredge captain, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Daniel H. Cook. DJ had a passion for the outdoors and specifically he respected and adored the sport of hunting. He will be greatly missed by his son and #1 hunting partner, Daniel. Dan’s pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. His dog, Kramer and grand-dogs, Bella and Ollie will also miss him. Surviving are his wife, the former Cynthia Becker; daughter, Jeanne (Tony) Lema of Skaneateles; son, Daniel H. (Tracie) Cook of Homer; his mother, Gloria Cook of Marcellus; sister, Linda Cook Kelly of Tennessee; grandchildren, Sierra, Trevor, Jayme and Kassie; “favorite father-in-law," Clifford (Ruth) Becker of Skaneateles, brothers-in-law, John Becker and Robert (Mel) Becker, both of Skaneateles and their families; uncle, Ralph Tolone of Warners; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may attend calling hours Sunday, March 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will be Monday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Borodino Cemetery, Skaneateles.
