Daniel C. Legnetto, 66, of Howlett Hill, passed away Monday at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Marcellus High School and attended Onondaga Community College. Daniel was employed by UPS for over 25 years and previously worked at Marcellus Casket Co. for 28 years. A lifetime member of Howlett Hill Fire Dept., he was also a past member and elder at Howlett Hill Presbyterian Church. Daniel was a former Boy Scout and assistant leader of Troop 66. He enjoyed camping, traveling, an occasional golf game, and playing cards with the boys on Sunday nights. Above all, he was a very devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Daniel was always friendly to anyone he encountered and could talk to you for hours. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you had a friend for life.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Marilyn.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Kim; sons, Nathan of Midland, GA, and Kyle (Julie) of Howlett Hill; daughter, Alyssa Legnetto of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Taylor, Sydney, Sophia, and Hayden; sisters, Laureen Legnetto of Howlett Hill, Sandra (Bruce) Mactaggart of Cicero, and Cathy (William) Van Order of Howlett Hill; brothers, Vincent and Michael (Holly), both of Syracuse, and Paul of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, January 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 4 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Daniel will be laid to rest in Howlett Hill Cemetery, Camillus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Howlett Hill Fire Dept., 3384 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215; to the Syracuse Rescue Mission Alliance, 155 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY 13202; or donate blood to the American Red Cross.
