Daniel L. Mathewson

Daniel L. Mathewson, 63, of Baldwinsville, and formerly of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was employed as a lease account salesman with Penske Truck Leasing for more than 20 years. He was a graduate of West Genesee High School and attended Elmira College. Dan enjoyed hockey and was passionate about coaching, especially the Syracuse Stars Youth Hockey Program. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins. Dan was also an SU sports fan, enjoyed playing golf, and driving his Corvette. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, Myron and Anne Mathewson; and brother, David in 2018.

Surviving are his son, Daniel (Kate) Mathewson Jr. of Camillus; daughter, Erica Mathewson of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Sean, Carter and Kellen; former wife, Mary Mathewson of Johns Island, SC; sister, Diana (Arlindo) Neves of Camillus; sister-in-law, Ginger Mathewson of Cicero; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 6:30 p.m. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required. Burial will be private.
