Daniel Joseph Bronchetti, 72, of Syracuse passed away peacefully with this family by his side on Tuesday. Born in Massena to Joseph and Mary Bronchetti, he graduated from Oswego State in 1971 with a degree in mathematics education. While at Oswego, he was a member of the golf team and represented Oswego in the national tournament. Daniel began his 39-year career with the Syracuse City School District at Roosevelt Jr. High School before moving to Corcoran High School where he was also the boy’s golf coach and chair of the NYS Section III golf. In addition, Dan coached and was a board member of WOYSA soccer organization.
Dan’s family was the center of his life but he was also blessed with many friends. He loved sports, especially SU football and the NY Yankees. He was an avid golfer at Sunset Ridge Golf Club and golf coach. He was a coach for many of his daughters’ sports teams and most recently, he kept the book for Westhill girls’ basketball.
Daniel is predeceased by his parents, Joseph (Razzy) and Mary Catanzarite (Mae) Bronchetti and his infant son, Daniel Joseph Bronchetti, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Doreen (Tierney) Bronchetti. He is also survived by his five daughters, Christina, Ellen (Mike Carson), Mary (Jeff) Swartz, Laura (Pete) Mitchell and Kathleen (Dave) Polly. He was also delighted to be grandfather of nine grandchildren: Lylly, Mary and Joey Gibson; Siena Danny Carson; Adelaide and Alexandra Swartz; Alexis Mitchell and Aiden and Chase Polly; two great-granchildren, Joseph and Jahsiona; sisters, Loretta Bronchetti Perez and Rosemary Bronchetti, both of Massena; brother, Samuel Bronchetti of Madison, WI; and loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, October 14 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Face masks are required.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles-St. Ann’s Church, 417 S. Orchard Rd., Syracuse. Daniel will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse. Face masks are required.
