Clydie Mae Athey, 71, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday April 19, 2012, at University Hospital. Born in Mocksville, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Clyde Anderson Daniels and Geneva Mae Champ Daniels. Clydie enjoyed Elvis, country music, flea markets and crocheting Surviving are her daughter, Sandie Cruz of Syracuse; sons and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Sandy Daniels of Solvay, Paul Athey Jr. of Syracuse, Jesse Athey of Solvay and Edward Athey of Faith, North Carolina; sisters, Mary Storie, Henrietta Leffler, Rachel Weeks and Shirley Gordon, all of Salisbury, North Carolina, Erma Stoneman of Virginia; brother, Ronnie Daniels of Salisbury, North Carolina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Van Ferris officiating. Clydie will be laid to rest in Loomis Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
