Christopher W. Young, 71, of Jamesville, passed away on Saturday, March 9 at home. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, he was an esteemed sergeant with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, where he served his community with honor and dedication for over 25 years. Later in his career, he worked with both the CSX Police Department and the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office until his retirement.
Outside of work, Christopher enjoyed walks with his dog, cycling, boating on Otisco Lake, and passionately supporting the University of Notre Dame lacrosse and football teams. He cherished spending time with friends and family, creating many treasured and lasting memories.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph; and brother, Joseph.
Surviving are his son, Christopher (Kristen) of Newtown, PA; grandsons, Andrew and Nathan; brother, Patrick of Jamesville; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Christopher’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
Christopher will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
