Christine Walsh-Hickey, 50, of Memphis, NY, passed away Friday at Strong Memorial Hospital. Formally of Owasco, she was a 1990 graduate of C.W. Baker High School. Christine was formerly employed as a bar manager at the Skaneateles Country Club for several years. Known as the life of the party, she loved her family, friends, and beloved animals. Christine was an activist for women’s rights, animals, and all people. As a music enthusiast, she was a big Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters fan. She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and practical jokes.
Christine was predeceased by her first husband, David Walsh; father, Donald VanTassell; stepson, Kevin Hickey; and dear friend, Linda Houghton.
Surviving are her husband of 13 years, Dennis Hickey; daughters, Kelsey (Sam Gosson) Walsh and Leah Walsh; stepson, Colin (Laura) Walsh; stepdaughter, Kara Hickey; mother, Barbara VanTassell; mother-in-law, Joanne Woodman; brothers, Jeffrey and Michael VanTassell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and puppies, Diesel and Mo.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home.
