Chester Peter Lewandowski, 83, of Warners, passed away peacefully on Monday at Upstate University Hospital. A lifelong resident of the Solvay and Warners area, he was a 1960 graduate of Solvay High School and dedicated 39 years to Carrier Corp. before retiring in 1998. Following his retirement, Chester continued to support his local community as a substitute bus driver for the West Genesee Central School District and Onondaga Community College.
A devoted communicant of Holy Family Church, Chester was also a gun and archery enthusiast and proud member of the Camillus Sportsmen’s Club. His passion for the outdoors shone through his love of hunting, fishing, trapping, and exploring nature, as well as the cherished time he spent at the family camp in Chaumont Bay. A classic car aficionado, Chester also deeply valued time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chester was predeceased by his son, Steven; grandson, Peter Neri; parents, Chester and Sophie; and brothers, William and John.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sandra; daughters, Stephanie (Dan) Neri and Suzanne (Bill) Neugent; grandchildren, Kara (Mark Flint), Joshua, and Justin Lewandowski, Paul, David, and Gina Neri, and Sarah Neugent; and great-granddaughter, Clara Flint.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Chester will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
