Chester J. Migon, 84, of Camillus, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. Chet was born and raised on the West End of Syracuse, the son of the late John and Valeria Migon. After many years of loyal service, he retired from Whitacre Engineering and was a member of Ironworkers Local 60. A master carpenter, who was passionate about his craft, Chet generously used his talents and expertise whenever needed to help family and friends. As a proud veteran, he served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Chet was also a past Grand Knight of the Sacred Heart Council 6282 of the Knights of Columbus. An active member of Holy Family Church for over 60 years, he served as an usher for the 8:45 a.m. Sunday Mass. Chet and his wife were blessed to enjoy many winters in Largo, Florida with all their American and Canadian friends. He loved his sports and was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a member of Westvale Golf Club for many years. Chet was predeceased by his son, Gerald; grandson, Nicholas Migon; and siblings, John, Michael, Sophie, Mary, Jennie, Lottie and Alice. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jane (Mimi) Migon; children, Susan Migon, Timothy (Veronica), Lawrence, Linda (Tom) Ryan, Patti (Mike) Hardenburgh and Mary Kay (Keith) Wilkie; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The Migon Family would like to thank the staff of the VA Medical Center for all of their dedicated care and kindness. In honoring Chet's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6 in Holy Family Church. Chester will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
