Chauncey A. Ball, 88, of Camillus, passed away Friday at Upstate Community Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, NY, he moved to Copenhagen at age six and graduated from Copenhagen High School. He resided in Camillus most of his life. A graduate of SUNY Canton and Syracuse University, Chauncey received a bachelor’s degree in business. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Employed by Carrier Corp. for 39 years, he also had his own accounting firm, C.A. Ball Accounting Services, for over 50 years, until May 2021. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Chauncey was a participant of the Men’s Nocturnal Adoration Society and Holy Name Society for over 50 years and participated in their golf league for many years. He was an avid SU basketball fan. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Chauncey was predeceased by his parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and grandson, Michael Ball.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Arlene Slaski; children, Dr. David (Liz) Ball of Amherst and Elizabeth (Kevin) Herron of Marietta, GA; siblings, Beverly Peck, Royce (Mary Jo) Ball and Sharon Cushman; and grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Mark and Justin Herron and Kaitlin and Kathryn Ball.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Chauncey will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
