Charles T. Holdrege, 85, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at University Hospital. Born and raised in the DeRuyter area, he lived in Camillus since 1956. Chuck was a graduate of Fabius High School and Syracuse University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1987 after 37 years as a pharmaceutical chemist with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and was a member of the American Chemical Society. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Charles served many years as an usher and volunteered with the food pantry. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Janet, in 1993. Surviving are his son, Robert (Annette) of Warners; daughters, Melissa (Lawrence) Knapp of Liverpool and Lorraine (Gary) Benjamin of Willseyville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, March 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Monday, March 2 at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Charles will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
