Charles S. “Charlie” Zysk Sr., 92, of Camillus, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at VA Medical Center. Born in Toledo, Ohio on Sunday, September 29, 1918, he was the son of Antoni Zysk and Wiktorija Siwek Zysk. He lived in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania until moving to the Syracuse area in 1941. For the last 32 years, Charlie spent his winters in Cape Canaveral, Florida. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1980 after 41 years with Crucible Steel. He was a communicant of St. Joseph´s Church and member of the Camillus Elks and Local #1277 Steelworkers, where he held many positions. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, the former Anastasia Banaszek; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and George Klotz of Baldwinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Charles S. Jr. and Nancy of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, George, John, Jim and Kathleen Klotz and Christopher Zysk; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4 at the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church with Deacon Mike Letizia officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W.
