Charles “Chuck” D. Page, 92, of Lakeland, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, March 15, 1919, he was the son of Irving Page and Martha Podger Page. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Chuck was a decorated veteran of World War II, including the Purple Heart. He saw action in Africa, Sicily and Normandy with the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division. He was employed by Centro for 35 years, retiring in 1981, and was also formerly employed as a surveyor for Oot Brothers Construction. He was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and member and past commander of American Legion Post 1297 in North Syracuse. Chuck was a past president of Centro Credit Union. Chuck was predeceased by his first wife, Cleora Page, in 1983; stepson, Robert Roche; and five brothers. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Ann Roche; daughters and sons-in-law, Cleora and Will Waters of Delaware and Betty and Rob Kline of Camillus; son and daughter-in-law, David and Terry Page of Pennsylvania; sister, Charlotte Saur of Mattydale; stepsons and wives, Mike and Lu Roche of Syracuse, Dan and Nancy Roche of Florida, Dave and Lisa Roche of Florida and Bill Roche of Syracuse; stepdaughter and husband, Marianne and Bob Collins of Liverpool; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9 in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Charles will be laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
