Charles F. Valls, 87, of Camillus, passed away Monday at Sunnyside Care Center. Born in New York City, he lived in Forest Hills, Bergenfield, NJ, San Juan, PR and Brazil before moving to Camillus in 1977. A 1951 graduate of RPI, Charlie retired in 1983 after 31 years with Carrier Corp. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and also served as a Merchant Marine. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, he was a member of the funeral guild. He was a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club and Camillus Sportsman Club. An Eagle Scout, he was also a former Boy Scout leader in Bergenfield and San Juan. Charlie enjoyed sailing and hiking. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Miriam Domiano, whom he married on June 16, 1951; sons, Frank (Donna) of Onondaga, Thomas of Camillus and William (Dahlia) of Loveland, OH; grandsons, Blake and Brett; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Onondaga Country Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to St. Joseph's Church Food Pantry, 5600 West Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
