Charles E. “Ted” Duxbury, 86, of Syracuse passed away Thursday at Crouse Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Ted was a graduate of Baldwinsville Academy. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Employed by Upstate Medical Center for more than 30 years, he retired in 1996. Ted was a member of the Pompey Club for more than 30 years, enjoyed playing pitch at the Alvord House and was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and traveling. Above all, Ted loved spending time with his family.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Alyce Duxbury; son, David; and grandson, Christopher.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Mary Ann Szewczyk; sons, Thomas (Karen Strait) of Fairmount and Robert (Leila) of Marcy; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister; Jane Atwater of Baldwinsville; brother, Thomas (Ida) of New Hampshire; brother-in-law, Harry Szewczyk of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, October 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Face masks are required. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
