Charles “Charlie” E. Dennis, 70, of Westvale, passed away peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with his illness. His strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to all who knew him. Though his journey was not easy, he faced each challenge with grace and determination, leaving behind a legacy of love and perseverance. 

Charlie was born on January 22, 1955, in Syracuse, where he remained a lifelong resident and a cherished member of the community. After earning his associate’s degree from Onondaga Community College, he furthered his education at SUNY Geneseo before proudly graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Syracuse University.

A truly remarkable individual, Charlie was an accomplished registered nurse at Upstate Hospital, dedicating his life to caring for others and embodying the spirit of healing and kindness. His commitment to excellence in healthcare and his unwavering dedication to his patients left an indelible mark on many lives.

Beyond his professional achievements, Charlie was an avid golfer who found joy in the game and the camaraderie it brought. He was also a passionate supporter of his favorite football team, the Los Angeles Rams, cheering them on with enthusiasm and fervor. His zest for life and infectious laughter made him a beloved friend and companion to all who knew him.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Cel Dennis; and sister, Patty Buerman.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Karen; brother, William "Bill" (Linda) of Stony Point; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Crouse Hospital for their compassionate care and unwavering support during this difficult time. Your kindness, dedication, and gentle hands provided comfort not only to our beloved Charlie but also to our entire family. We are forever grateful for the love and care you showed in our time of need.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service to lay Charlie to rest will be held in the spring at Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, D.C. 20090-6929.
