Catherine “Cathie” Perry, 76, of Auburn, passed away Monday at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place. She was born and raised in Rome before moving to the Syracuse area. Cathie earned her master's degree from SUNY Buffalo and was employed as a guidance counselor with West Genesee High School. She was very active in charity work, especially at St. Lucy’s Parish and several other local organizations. Cathie enjoyed gardening and working on arts and crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, going to concerts and musical theatre with her friends, painting, needlework and following SU sports. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Cathie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2001; and parents, Raymond and Catherine (Kehoe) Butler.
Surviving are her children, Timothy (Sharon) Perry, Michael Perry, Coleen Masucci and Maureen (Richard) Rosen; brother, Raymond “Ned” (Kathy) Butler; grandchildren, Christopher, Megan, Michael, Kelley, Brittany, Courtney, Cara, Annie and Kate; 11 great-grandchildren; niece, Colleen Butler; nephew, Sean Butler; one great-niece and one great nephew.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 25 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Cathie will be laid to rest at 12:30 p.m. in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rome.
