Carol Myers Murphy, 85, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday at Auburn Community Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of St. Anthony's Convent School and received her associate degree from Alfred State. Carol was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center for 29 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church where she served on the funeral committee and was a member of the choir. Carol was an avid bowler and member of the West Hill Golf League. She enjoyed spending time at the Outer banks and walking the beaches of Florida. Most of all, she relished her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Raymund and Ruth Myers; brothers Raymund Jr. and William; and granddaughter, Kate Murphy Pepoli.
Carol is survived by her sons, Dennis of Redington Shores, FL and Kevin (Amy) of Syracuse; daughters, Kathleen (Brian) McMahon of Pittsford, NY, Colleen Murphy (John Stidham) of Clearwater FL and Erin (John) Day of Fairmount; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Vera Mollica (Aluizio) Silva of San Paulo, Brazil. A special thank you to Carol's best friend, Selma Salmons, for her decades of devoted friendship.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, September 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. A funeral Mass will follow in the church.
Private burial will be held at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse NY 13219.
