Carol Kilcoyne Parker, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, with family by her side after a brave five-year battle with lymphoma. Carol was truly an angel on earth, always putting the needs of others first and bringing joy and kindness to every life she touched. She was born and raised in Navarino, and has resided in Camillus for most of her adult life. She was a graduate of Onondaga Central High School and St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in Syracuse. After working as a nurse in both Syracuse and Buffalo, Carol decided to leave nursing to devote herself full-time to her husband and children. She was the President and CEO of the Parker family, helping her husband build a successful dental practice, lovingly raising her two children, and organizing and making every family event beautiful. She was a force of nature with boundless energy, and was always working on family and charitable projects. In recent years, she was a caretaker of her parents, who reached the ages of 99 and 100 years old. Carol had music in her heart, and loved listening to music, as well as singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and walking the beach with the love of her life, Bruce. She was the world’s best Grammy to her three grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus for nearly 40 years, and was very active in the church’s funeral guild, food pantry, folk group, and choir.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Muriel Kilcoyne; her in-laws, Victor and Belle Parker; and her nephew, Joshua Parker.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 51 years, Bruce Parker; children, Lisa (Michael) Brosnan and Michael Parker (Sammi Dickerman); brother, James (Colleen) Kilcoyne; sister, Susan Kilcoyne (Duane Coughenour); grandchildren, Michael and Ryan Brosnan, and Birdie Louise Parker; sister-in-laws, Vickie Parker, Belle (Robert) Ferguson, and Robin Parker; brother-in-law, Brian (Jackie) Parker; aunt, Ruth Curtis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
