Carol Jean Panik, 81, of Camillus, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Marcellus, she lived most of her life in the Camillus area. Carol graduated from Marcellus High School and was employed with GTE Sylvania for over 25 years, where she met her husband, David. Carol and David were able to enjoy many years of retirement in St. Augustine, FL. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, she was a member of the funeral guild. Carol was blessed to have wonderful lifelong friends and was an avid Bridge and golf player. Her pride and joy were her beautiful grandchildren who she loved spending time with.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, David; son, Brian; parents, Robert and Florence Taylor; four sisters; and one brother.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen O’Connor of Camillus, Maureen (Paul) Bova of Camillus and Kristin (Doug) Russell of Manlius; grandchildren, Colleen, Patrick and Thomas O’Connor and Elizabeth Bova; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 26 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required. Carol will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
