Carol A. Surace, 75, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Ilion, she moved to Herkimer in 1966 before settling in Camillus in 2009. Carol was employed with Off Track Betting for 26 years before retiring in 2004. She was a devoted and faithful communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed golfing, going to the casino and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, James J. Surace Jr., in 2004; and sister, Lucille McGlone, in 2004.
Surviving are her daughters, Andrea Fisher of Camillus and Carla (Samuel) Buranich III of Camillus; sisters, Phyllis (Charlie) Campione of Oregon and Mary (Richard) Ganci of Utica; brother, Joseph Sgroi of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Max and Tyler Buranich; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the 3rd floor staff at St. Camillus for their loving care and compassion given to Carol, especially Candy, Jen, Jackie and Elizabeth.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Carol will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
