Carmen D. Sacco, 68, a lifetime resident of Syracuse's west side, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at Crouse Hospital. Born on November 6, 1939, he was the son of Annunziato Sacco and Frances Adorno Sacco. He was a 1957 graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School. He was employed by P & C Foods for 33 years, Teamsters Local 317. A communicant of St. Lucy's Church, Carmen was an active member of the parish council, usher and Bingo worker. An active community leader, he volunteered with his local Neighborhood Watch and Police Store Front. Also active with the Boy Scouts, he was past commissioner of the local Boy Scout Council and former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. Carmen was an avid bowler for more than 35 years and enjoyed bowling Wednesday nights at the Thunderbird Lanes. Following retirement, he enjoyed camping, bird watching and card playing, relaxing with family and friends and cooking at barbecues. He taught all his grandchildren how to make meatballs and sauce. Carmen was predeceased by his brother, Vincent. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Lois Harrington; children, Victoria Sacco, Debra and RalphLewis, Michael Sacco, Joseph and Teresa Sacco, and John Sacco; siblings, Frank, Anthony, Robert, Richard, Ronald, Carole Kowalewski and Patricia Popps and 15 grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 11 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Monday, April 21, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse.
