Carlton “Corky” Strempel, 76, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday at University Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and attended Syracuse University. Corky was the owner of Strempel’s Locksmiths where he worked for over 50 years. He was a communicant of St. Charles~St. Ann’s Parish and a member of the Pastime Athletic Club. Corky was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing cards. Above all, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Corky was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jane Strempel; nephews, Kenneth and Michael Strempel; and sister-in-law, Ceci Strempel.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Patricia; daughters, Eileen (Stephen Meyer) Strempel of Cincinnati, OH and Colleen (Christopher) Cipro of Fairmount; son, John (Patti) of Marcellus; grandchildren, Matthew, Gavin, Thomas, Maggie, Sean and Dylan; brother, Patrick of New Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Charles~St. Ann’s Parish, 501 South Orchard Rd., Syracuse. Face coverings are required.
A funeral Mass will follow at noon in the church. Burial will be private.
