Beverly J. Schmidt, 96, formerly of Syracuse and Camillus, and most recently of Royal Palm Beach, FL, passed away on May 17, 2024. Born in Auburn, she was the daughter of Clarence Robinson Splane and Erma Snyder Splane. Beverly graduated from Auburn East High School and Auburn Business School and pursued studies in magazine production at the Syracuse University Newhouse Communications Center. For over 35 years, she served as the managing editor of "The Empire State Challenger". Beverly also held the position of editor for the "Saddlebags" publication and worked as the registrar and treasurer for the summer camps at Casowasco UM Conference Center.

Beverly was actively involved with the Syracuse Christian Women's Club, serving for many years as an advisor on its executive committee. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Camillus and had previously been a member of the First United Methodist Church and Furman United Methodist Church in Syracuse.

Beverly and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida where they cherished their time with family.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Karl, in 2003; and one grandson. 

Surviving are her daughter, Karen (Brad) Lettsome of Royal Palm Beach, FL; son, Donald (Susan) Schmidt of Pompey; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. 

Beverly will be laid to rest next to her husband, Karl, in the Syracuse Veteran’s Cemetery.
