Beverly J. Slifka, 84, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013. She was the beloved wife of 62 years of the late William Slifka who passed away on December 8, 2009. Born in Syracuse on Friday, March 23, 1928, she was the daughter of Phillip Moore and Elizabeth (Gaughan) Moore. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was a graduate of Vocational High School. Beverly was previously employed by the North Syracuse School District and also was the childcare director at Hancock Field Airbase. She loved spending time with her family and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Beverly was predeceased by her twin sister, Shirley Kodya and brother, Phillip "Mike" Moore. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and James Cordon of Camillus; son and daughter-in-law, William and Virginia Slifka of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; grandchildren, Kelly and James Cordon Jr., Candice LaSalle and William R. Slifka; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services and burial will be private.
