Beverly J. Lawless, 78, of Camillus, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at home. Born in Tupper Lake, she was raised in Sylvan Beach and moved to Camillus in 1958. She was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy in Rome. Beverly retired from LCP Chemicals in Solvay after 15 years. She also worked as a journalist for the Camillus Advocate for several years and held numerous positions with the Town of Camillus, including the office of the Receiver of Taxes, court offices and the Water Dept. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. An avid bridge player and former bowler, she also enjoyed quilting and painting. She was a member of the Camillus Elks who honored her with their "Mother of the Year" award. She had a servant's heart and volunteered at Holy Family Church, Van Duyn Home & Hospital and the Rescue Mission. Above all, Beverly loved spending time with her family. Beverly was predeceased by her husband, James, in 2005. Surviving are her son, James (Brenda) of Baldwinsville; daughters, Lynne (Stephen) Dutcher of Rochester, Kelly (Robert) Giordano of Schererville, IN and Maureen (David) Howes of Syracuse; sister, Joleane (Warren) Smith of Oneida; brothers, Roger (Gail) Herb of Camden, Bryan Herb of Oneida, Craig (Barbara) Herb of North Bay and Bruce (Anne) Herb of Oneida; grandchildren, James Joshua (Maureen) Lawless, Kaitlyn (Nick) Rosswurm, Megan Giordano, Kelsey (Osmar) Lopez, Shannon and Bradley Howes; great-granddaughter, Kylie Lopez; brother-in-law, William Lawless of Rome; and many special nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Beverly's wish was to donate her body to SUNY Health Science Center. Relatives and friends may call Friday, September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 13 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church.
