Betty A. Ganley, 88, of Fairmount, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at Crouse Hospital. A life resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Monday, October 8, 1923 and was the daughter of Frederick Andrew Sturgis and Walda Leaman Sturgis. She was a graduate of Weedsport High School and Auburn Nursing School. Betty was a World War II veteran and member of the American Legion Tipperary Hill Post 1361. She was employed by Crouse Hospital for more than 30 years, retiring in 1990 as a nurse supervisor. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her nurse friends, family and grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles Michael Ganley, in 1998. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Joy Ganley of Warners, Dennis and Kathie Ganley of Baldwinsville, Charles and Kim Ganley of Chittenango and Larry and Ann Seymour of Victor, Montana; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Eleanor Sturgis of Weedsport; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Saturday, February 4 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Ferner officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
