Barbara Jean Henry went from our arms into the arms of Jesus on Thursday after struggling with illness for many years. She was a fighter until the end. She will be forever loved and forever remembered. Born in Ithaca on April 22, 1962, Barb grew up in Groton and Syracuse where she graduated from Onondaga Central. She moved with her family to Brevard, NC where she worked at nearby J&S Cafeteria for many years. Barb returned with her family to Syracuse in 2006. She enjoyed spending time on Facebook, coloring, shopping, and her stuffed animals, especially her favorite Charlie the polar bear. She also loved watching videos of Gracie and Beretta, David and Mari’s dogs, and saying hi to them over the phone.
Barb was predeceased by her parents Doris and Irvin Henry.
Barb is survived by her brother, David (Mari) Henry; sisters, Carole Henry, Becky Henry and Paula Brunelle; niece, Samantha (David) Warren and nephews, Shane (Ashley) Brunelle and Max Baretto; great-nephew, Carter Warren; and great-nieces, Clara Warren, Ella Warren and Ada Brunelle.
Many thanks to Exceptional Family Services, especially Deb Gibson-Jaworski, and Barb's favorite support person, Tonia Overend. A special thank you also to Suzanne Ackley-Perot who was always there for Barb.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, March 1 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Rd., Camillus. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the church.
Barb will be laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
