Arthur Joseph Czerniak, 61, of 4876 Northeast Town Line Road, Marcellus, died Tuesday, June 17, 1986 at Community-General Hospital after a long illness. A native of Syracuse, Arthur lived in Marcellus for 38 years. He retired May 1 after 42 years with New Process Gear Division of Chrysler Corp. Arthur was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus, and was a former member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed traveling, particularly to his wife's favorite destination, Hawaii. Surviving are his wife, the former Regina Pokrentowski; two sons, Anthony Czerniak of Union, New Jersey and Gregory Czerniak of Chittenango; three sisters, Florence, Irene and Claire Czerniak, all of Syracuse; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 1986 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, and at 9 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 1986 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Howlett Hill Fire Department.
