Arthur E. Peck Jr. 83, of Onondaga Hill, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Community General Hospital. Born in Dexter on Tuesday, August 31, 1926, he was the son of Arthur Peck and Rena Smith Peck. He moved around Northern New York before moving to Syracuse in 1976. Arthur was a graduate of Dexter High School and SUNY Canton. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1987 after 37 years from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Arthur was a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the American Legion and American Gas Assn. An avid golfer, he was a former member of Tuscarora Golf Club. Arthur was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. Arthur was predeceased by his sister, Janice Heath; and brothers, Howard and Dale Peck. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former June Sochia; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Paula Peck Sr. of Old Forge and Stephen and Julie Peck of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, July 19 in Holy Family Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arthur’s name may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
