Armand F. Phillips Sr., 74, of Syracuse, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Community-General Hospital. Born in Warners on Friday, November 24, 1933, he was the son of Frank Phillips and Mary Palange Phillips. He was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. He was a 1953 graduate of Warners High School and attended Powelson Business Institute. Armand was a sales manager for Roberts Equipment in Cazenovia for 21 years, retiring in 2001. He was also formerly employed by J.I. Case Co. He was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and served as head usher. He was also a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Antique Car Club and the Gladys Tabor Book Club. Armand enjoyed restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors, woodworking, mechanics and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanette Saunders. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Marion Dent; sons and daughters-in-law, Armand and Pamela Phillips Jr. of Liverpool, Kevin and Linda Phillips of Valparaiso, Indiana and Ken and Barb Phillips of Marcellus; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bonnie Phillips of Syracuse; grandchildren, Sarah, John, Emily, Gabrielle, Ken Jr., Kassy and Kaleb; aunt, Marge Giamartino of Camillus; uncle, John Palange of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Monday, November 24, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
