Camillus

Armand Cesta, 94, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Friday, at Upstate Community Hospital, with his loving family by his side. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Armand was a cherished member of the community whose presence will be deeply missed. Born and raised in Syracuse, Armand dedicated his life to his family, his work, and his faith. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, embodying the values of honor and service that he carried throughout his life.

After his military service, Armand found his professional calling as a meat cutter, beginning his career at Loblaws and later working at several local Big M Markets. His skill and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues and customers alike. He was a proud member of the UFCW Local 342.

For 62 years, Armand was a devoted communicant of Holy Family Church. His faith was central to his life, and he served as a lay minister, offering his time and compassion to support and guide others in his community.

Armand had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He was an avid golfer, achieving the rare and celebrated feat of a hole-in-one, and he was a former tennis player who loved the thrill of the game. Dancing brought him joy, and he had a talent for making homemade wine, which he loved to share with family and friends over good food.

Above all, Armand treasured the time he spent with his family. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter and love.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Armand was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo and Rose; and brother, Carmen.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Yvonne; sons, Christopher (Penelope) of Camillus and Joseph of Redfield; daughters, Judiann (Stanley Przepiora) Cesta of Solvay, Renee Sexton of Onondaga Hill, and Sara (Michael) Barbagallo of Mattydale; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Dausman of N. Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
