Arlene O'Hara O'Connor, 80, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, July 3, 1926, she was the daughter of Joseph F. O'Hara and Margaret E. Caveny. She lived in Camillus most of her life and Tipperary Hill for 25 years. Arlene was a 1943 graduate of Camillus High School and received a B.S. from Cornell University in 1947 and an M.S. in Ed. from Syracuse University in 1965. An elementary school teacher for the West Genesee Central School District, she retired in 1984 after 24 years. She was instrumental in the original support of Francis House. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church where she was also a lector, Eucharistic minister and member of the Golden Agers. She was former president of Camillus B.P.W., volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority at Cornell. Her husband, John F. Jack O'Connor, died November 18, 1975. Surviving are her daughters, Catherine (David) Okoniewski of Fulton, Patricia O'Connor (Richard Drachenberg) of Angelica, Mary (John) Gokey of Marcellus and Joanne (Mark) Balduzzi of Syracuse; sons, Robert F. (Eileen) O'Connor of Syracuse, John Chuck M. (Cathy) O'Connor of Syracuse and Marty A. (Patricia) O'Connor of Louisville, Colorado; brother, Edward J. O'Hara of Camillus; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be concelebrated by her grandson, Rev. Joseph O'Connor and nephew, Rev. Daniel O'Hara. Friends may call Monday, April 16, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or to the Volunteer Office at Community-General Hospital, 4900 Broad Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
