Arlene Frances Dewey MacDowell

May 29, 1920 — May 27, 2015

Arlene Frances Dewey MacDowell, 94, of Warners, passed away Wednesday at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. A lifetime resident of Warners, she was a 1937 graduate of Warners High School. Arlene retired in 1980 after 17 years with G.C. Murphy Co. and was member of the Camillus Elks Lodge Ladies' Auxiliary #2367. Arlene was an avid SU Basketball and NY Yankee fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Herbert, in 2010; and daughter, Deborah Wicks-MacDowell, in 2009; and brothers, John and Maurice Dewey. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Spencer of Warners; sons, Allison MacDowell and Richard (Linda) MacDowell, both of Warners; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Arlene’s name to the Camillus Elks Lodge #2367, P.O. Box 396, Camillus, NY 13031.
