Art Campbell, 85, of Camillus, went to his heavenly home on Friday. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Marcellus High School. A six-year U.S. Marine Reservist, Art was employed by New Process Gear as a mechanic and later a machinist for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was an active friend of Bill W’s for over 49 years and helped many people. An avid fisherman and hunter, Art loved the Lord, his family, friends, music, and food. He always showed up for the people who mattered most to him.
Art was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Joan “Joanne” Campbell; parents, Carl and Gertrude Campbell; brothers, Ray and Paul; and sisters, Lori, Mary Jean and Joan.
Surviving are his children, Laurie, Carl (Sue), Karen, Melanie and Gordon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, David; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private service for immediate family. Masks will be required.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Syracuse Christ Community Church of the Nazarene, 3644 Warners Rd., Syracuse. Masks are preferred.
Art will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
