Anthony “Tony” Pompi, 83, formerly of Fairmount, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in the presence of his family at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born Sunday, July 8, 1928 and was the son of Louis Pompi and Cecilia Musa Pompi. Tony was employed by Boss-Linco Lines, Inc. for many years. He was also formerly employed by Boston Buffalo Express, Inc. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Beverly Martz; son and daughter-in-law, John and Shannon Pompi of Baldwinsville; daughters and sons-inlaw, Kathleen and David Barnhart of North Syracuse and Cecilia and Mark Pigula of Camillus; sister, Elisa Cardone of Syracuse; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Rosemarie Pompi of Syracuse; grandchildren, Michelle Pigula, Dan (Erica) Pigula, Stephen Pigula, Erin Barnhart, Brittany Pompi and Matthew Pompi; great-grandson, Albert Pigula; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, April 28 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home and at noon in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
