Anthony F. Malagisi, 88, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at home. Born in Minturno, Italy on Monday, February 25, 1924, he was the son of Anthony Malagisi and Maria Paparella Malagisi. He moved to Syracuse in 1929. Tony was a 1942 graduate of Vocational High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He retired after more than 30 years with Union 519 and then worked 13 years at Walmart. A communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Tony was predeceased by his son, Donald J. Malagisi. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Frances Hnatko; daughters and son-in-law, Anne Malagisi of Tampa, Florida and Carol and David Barletta of Syracuse; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jill Malagisi of Manlius; sister, Theresa Stagnitta of Baldwinsville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. Tony will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
