Anne (Van Atta) Traino, 88, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, May 11, 1922, she was the daughter of Joseph Thomas Walsh and Lucy Catherine Mutchler Walsh. She lived in Fairmount until moving to Camillus in 1973. Anne graduated in 1940 from Central High School and attended Central City Business Institute. She sold real estate for 14 years and formerly was employed by Easy Washer and Community General Hospital. Anne was a member of Fairmount Community Church United Church of Christ for over 50 years and was active in its Circle E group. She was also a member of the Camillus Republican Club and a former advisor to the Alpha Omega sorority. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Sam, in April 6, 2006; grandson, Jason Van Atta, in 1978; sister, Lucy Ventura; and brothers, John, Paul “Skipper”, and Joe Walsh. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Paul Van Atta Jones of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and Vicki and Blane Van Atta Planty of Derry, New Hampshire; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Susan Van Atta of Roseville, California and John and Marie Van Atta of North Syracuse; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at noon at the funeral home.
