Anne “Roz” Rosamond Galante, 91, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, April 1, 1919, she was the daughter of Clarence William Lawton and Elizabeth Cahill Lawton. She spent her early years in Lakeland before moving to Camillus more than 50 years ago. Anne was a graduate of Solvay High School. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and volunteered for the Erie Canal Restoration Committee. She also enjoyed traveling. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Henry L. Galante, in 1991. Surviving are her son, Christopher of Syracuse; daughter, Dr. Kathleen Haynes of Columbia, Maryland; and sisters and brother-in-law, Katherine “Millie” and John Giess of Skaneateles and Elizabeth Frey of Onondaga Hill; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Michael, Jared and Jessica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, September 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Anne will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
