Anne Woodruff Frank, 99, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday. Born in Madison, CT, she was a graduate and salutatorian of Hand High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. In 1949, Anne married Jack Woodruff and moved to Syracuse. In 1950, they joined Plymouth Congregational Church, where they both became actively involved and made many lifelong friends. When their three daughters reached school age, Anne began her stint as a substitute teacher. She and Jack also served as directors of Drumlins Ski School until 1973. Jack passed away in 1978. In 1993, Anne married her longtime friend and widower, Leslie Frank. They enjoyed 18 years together in Les’ home in Camillus. She was a dedicated member of multiple organizations, including AAUW, American Red Cross for over 70 years, Plymouth Church for 73 years, Fairmount Community Church UCC for 30 years, Oneida Association, Girl Scouts, Institute of Retired People, Camillus Chamber of Commerce, Fairmount Garden Club, and West Hill Croquet Club. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge, games, swimming, tennis, and golf.
Anne was predeceased by her first husband, John C. Woodruff, in 1978; and her second husband, Leslie Frank, in 2011.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon (Jim) Chmielewski, Deborah (Dave) Meeker, and Pamela (Dave) Altman; grandchildren, James (Tina) and John (Kelly) Chmielewski, Sarah (Adam Drapikowski) Chmielewski, Jessica Calhoun, Kyle (Alex) Meeker, Matthew (Amara) and Joseph (Courtney) Altman, and Kimberly (Peter) Schultz; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, W.W. “Bill” Whedon; step-children, Diane (David) Marsh, Judi (Chuck) Muniak, and Jim (Mary Kay Smyth) Frank; six step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation to celebrate Anne’s life will be held on Thursday, September 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fairmount Community Church United Church of Christ, 126 South Terry Rd., Syracuse.
A memorial service honoring Anne’s memory will follow at 3 p.m. in the church.
Anne will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
