Anna M. Petty

Anna (Mellon) Petty, 96, of Sun City West, Arizona, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012. Born in Morea, Pennsylvania on Thursday, September 14, 1916, she was the daughter of Peter Mellon and Nellie Polansky Mellon. She lived in Watertown and Syracuse before moving to Arizona. Anna retired in 1981 from Eagle Shirtmakers Co. in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. She was a communicant of St. Mary's in Mahanoy City, Holy Family Church in Watertown and Holy Family Church in Syracuse. Anna was predeceased by her husband, George Brehm Petty Sr., on October 14, 2001; and son, George Brehm Petty Jr., on December 7, 2007. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Melanie Vannucci and Sharon and Dan Burkhard, all of Sun City West, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Sharon Petty of Syracuse; sister, Sue DeVita of Bayonne, New Jersey; brother, John Mellon of Frackville, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 24 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Anna will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
