Ann Ravera, 89, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was born in Endicott in 1926. Ann attended Union Endicott High School where she played cornet in the U.E. marching band. After the war, she married Louis Ravera in 1950. The couple moved to Ithaca, where Ann worked at Morse Chain while Lou attended law school. In the years to come, Ann and Lou would move to Syracuse where she raised two children. Ann ran the household while Lou operated his law practice. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage until Lou's passing in 1998. In her final years, Ann suffered a prolonged illness. During those difficult years, she received the loving, expert care of several devoted home aides who gave her peace, comfort and plenty of smiles. Ann loved children, was a devoted mother and loving wife. Her life was long and well lived, but her presence will be deeply missed. Surviving are her dear sister, Mary DuBrava of Endicott; daughter, Pamela (Herbert) Slade of Fort Worth, TX; son, Robert (Laura) Ravera of E. Syracuse. Ann enjoyed her grandchildren, Jessica and David Slade, Elena, Olivia, and Daniel Ravera; great-grandson, Louis Slade; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be private. Ann will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ann may be made to VNA Homecare, 1050 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
