Ann R. Scobell

April 12, 1935 — March 16, 2025

Camillus

Ann Ruth Scobell, revered as a pillar of quiet strength and bravery, passed away on Sunday at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 12, 1935, to Clarence and Jane Huttenlocker, she grew up in Riverside. Ann was an active participant in sports and various clubs while excelling academically and earning several awards. She initially pursued nursing at Millard Fillmore Hospital but later shifted careers, joining the National Gypsum Corporation as a payroll clerk. In 1955, Ann and Jack began their journey together, marrying in 1957—a loving union that lasted 68 years.

One of Ann’s greatest joys was raising her four children, who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed reading, cooking—especially her Christmas cookies, pineapple upside-down cake, chocolate chip, and California ranger cookies—playing card games, working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing the piano, and cross-stitching. Ann’s faith was evident in her active membership at Christ Community Church, where she remained involved until her passing. Despite challenges life brought her way, she never wavered in her compassion for others, and her infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes brought sunlight to those around her.

Ann's reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jack; beloved children, Michael (Vicki-Ann), Daniel (Amy), Sharon (Tim), and Susan (Dave); grandchildren, Melissa-Ann (Jason), Stephanie (Rodney Ross), Tyler (Perry), Matthew, Nicole (Audesho), Alexandra (Zachary), Jack, David, Kyle (Erin), Steven, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Logan, Quinn, Jake, Alice, Matilda, Matthew, Jameson, and one on the way; and younger brother, John Huttenlocker.

For the past 20 years, Ann was fortunate to have the care and support of many wonderful caregivers. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kathy, Sue, Suzanne, Tammy, and the many others who provided compassionate care over the years.

To celebrate Ann’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to noon at Christ Community Church, 3644 Warners Rd., Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Camillus www.st-camillus.org/giving, to Hospice of CNY & of the Finger Lakes www.hospicecny.org/donate, or to a charity of your choice.
